Xin Huang (b. 2001) is a London-based artist working across sculpture and installation. Her practice explores how familiar forms can become unstable through displacement, repetition and unexpected combinations. Drawing from fungal ecologies, industrial structures and constructed environments, she creates situations in which biological, architectural and manufactured qualities begin to overlap.
Through alteration and recombination, Huang shifts familiar forms away from their expected functions and contexts. A structure may suggest both an architectural component and a bodily form; something organic may appear continuous with a mechanical or built system. These associations remain unresolved, allowing recognition and uncertainty to coexist.
Her practice is concerned with adaptation, coexistence and the ways forms respond to their surroundings. Across her installations, objects, bodies and structures appear to adjust to one another, producing environments in which boundaries become porous and familiar spaces take on a subtly unfamiliar character.
